Modern British English, from the verb phrase “climb down,” originally meaning to descend from a height; figuratively used for backing down from a position. In noun form it became common in the late 20th century in political/journalistic usage.
আধুনিক ব্রিটিশ ইংরেজি; “climb down” (উঁচু স্থান থেকে নেমে আসা) ক্রিয়া-প্রয়োগ থেকে এসেছে এবং পরে রূপক অর্থে ‘অবস্থান থেকে পিছু হটা/ছাড় দেওয়া’ বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়। বিশেষ করে রাজনীতি ও সাংবাদিকতায় ২০শ শতকের শেষভাগে বিশেষ্য “climbdown” প্রচলিত হয়।
Definition
A climbdown is when someone (often a politician, company, or organization) withdraws or softens a firm public stance because of opposition, new facts, or negotiation.
ক্লাইম্বডাউন বলতে বোঝায় যখন কেউ (বিশেষ করে রাজনীতিবিদ, প্রতিষ্ঠান বা সংগঠন) বিরোধিতা, নতুন তথ্য বা আলোচনার চাপে আগে দৃঢ়ভাবে ঘোষিত অবস্থান থেকে সরে আসে বা তা নরম করে—অর্থাৎ ছাড়/পিছু হটা।
