সংস্কৃত ‘ভগবান’ (ভগ + বান), যেখানে ‘ভগ’ অর্থ ঐশ্বর্য/মহিমা/সৌভাগ্য এবং ‘বান’ অর্থ ‘যুক্ত/অধিকারী’; অর্থাৎ যিনি সর্ব ঐশ্বর্যে ভূষিত
From Sanskrit ‘bhagavān’ (bhaga + -vān), where ‘bhaga’ denotes fortune/divine glory and ‘-vān’ means ‘possessing’; hence ‘one who possesses all divine attributes.’

ভগবান বলতে সর্বশক্তিমান ঈশ্বরকে বোঝায়, যিনি জগতের সৃষ্টিকর্তা, পালনকর্তা ও সর্বজ্ঞ বলে বিশ্বাস করা হয়; হিন্দু ধর্মে বিষ্ণু, শিব, কৃষ্ণ প্রভৃতি দেবতাকেও সম্মানসূচকভাবে ‘ভগবান’ বলা হয়
