সংস্কৃত ‘উক্ত’ (অর্থ: বলা/উচ্চারিত) থেকে বাংলা ‘উক্ত’; অর্থবিস্তারে ‘পূর্বে উল্লেখিত/said’ অর্থে প্রচলিত।

From Sanskrit ‘उक्त’ meaning ‘spoken/said’; in Bengali it extended in meaning to ‘previously mentioned/the said’.

‘উক্ত’ শব্দটি লিখিত ও আনুষ্ঠানিক ভাষায় বেশি ব্যবহৃত হয়; এর দ্বারা আগে বলা/লেখা হয়েছে এমন ব্যক্তি, বস্তু, স্থান, সময়, বক্তব্য বা প্রসঙ্গকে বোঝানো হয় (যেমন: উক্ত ব্যক্তি, উক্ত ধারায়, উক্ত সময়ে)।
