‘উদাসীন’ শব্দটি সংস্কৃত ‘উদাসীন’ (উদ্ + আসীন) থেকে এসেছে; অর্থ ‘আলাদা/পাশে বসে থাকা’, পরে অর্থবিকাশে ‘নিরপেক্ষ/নির্লিপ্ত’

The word ‘উদাসীন’ comes from Sanskrit ‘उदासीन’ (ud + āsīna), literally ‘sitting apart/aside’; by semantic development it came to mean ‘neutral/indifferent’
