কোনো সিদ্ধান্ত, অনুমোদন, চাকরি/পদোন্নতি, কাজের অগ্রাধিকার বা বিশেষ সুবিধা পাওয়ার উদ্দেশ্যে কর্তৃপক্ষ বা প্রভাবশালী ব্যক্তির কাছে বারবার যোগাযোগ, সুপারিশ, লবিং বা দৌড়ঝাঁপ করাকে তদবির বলা হয়; এতে কখনও বৈধ অনুরোধ থাকে, আবার কখনও অযথা চাপ/প্রভাব খাটানোর ধারণাও থাকতে পারে
