হিন্দুস্তানি/উর্দু ‘رومالی’ (রূমালি) থেকে; শব্দটি ‘رومال’ (রুমাল, ‘হাতরুমাল’) থেকে, রুটির পাতলাপনা ও ভাঁজ করার ধরন বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত
From Hindustani/Urdu ‘رومالی’ (rumālī), ultimately from ‘رومال’ (rumāl, ‘handkerchief’), referring to the bread’s thinness and the way it can be folded like a handkerchief
Definition
রূমালি হলো তাওয়া বা উল্টো করে রাখা গোলাকার কড়াই/তাওয়ার ওপর খুব পাতলা করে টানা রুটি; নরম ও নমনীয় হওয়ায় এটি রুমালের মতো ভাঁজ করা যায় এবং কাবাব, কোরমা ইত্যাদির সঙ্গে পরিবেশন করা হয়
Rumali is an ultra-thin flatbread stretched and cooked on a convex griddle (often an inverted wok/tawa); because it is soft and pliable, it can be folded like a handkerchief and is served with kebabs, korma, and other meat dishes
