From Sanskrit ‘पृथ्वी (pṛthvī)’, originally associated with the idea of ‘pṛthu’ (broad/expansive) meaning ‘the broad earth/land’; in Bengali both forms ‘পৃথ্বী’ and ‘পৃথিবী’ are in use
