বাংলা ‘অরূপতা’ শব্দটি ‘অ-’ (নিষেধ/অভাব) উপসর্গ + ‘রূপ’ (আকৃতি/সৌন্দর্য) + ‘-তা’ (ভাববাচক প্রত্যয়) থেকে গঠিত; ‘রূপ’ শব্দের মূল সংস্কৃত ‘रूप (rūpa)’
