বাংলা ধাতু ‘মোছা/মুছা’ (মুছে ফেলা, ঘষে পরিষ্কার করা) থেকে ‘মোছন’ নামবাচক রূপ; সংস্কৃত ‘মার্জন’ (পরিষ্কার করা) শব্দের অর্থগত প্রভাবও দেখা যায়
