সংস্কৃতমূল ‘ক্ষণ’ (মুহূর্ত) + ‘দর্শী’ (যে দেখে) + ভাববাচক প্রত্যয় ‘তা’; অর্থাৎ ‘শুধু ক্ষণ/মুহূর্ত দেখে এমন অবস্থা বা গুণ’
From a Sanskrit-derived formation: ‘ক্ষণ’ (moment) + ‘দর্শী’ (one who sees) + the abstract noun suffix ‘তা’, meaning ‘the quality/state of seeing only the moment’.

যে মানসিকতা বা আচরণে কেউ দূরদৃষ্টি বা দীর্ঘমেয়াদি ফল না ভেবে তাৎক্ষণিক লাভ, সুবিধা বা বর্তমান মুহূর্তের পরিস্থিতিকেই প্রধান্য দেয়—তাকে ক্ষণদর্শীতা বলা হয়
