সংস্কৃত ‘কৃতি’ (কৃত + ই), অর্থ ‘কর্ম/কীর্তি/কৃতকর্ম’; সেখান থেকে বাংলা ‘কৃতী’ অর্থ ‘কৃতকার্য/গুণী’

From Sanskrit ‘कृति (kṛti)’ (kṛta + i), meaning ‘deed/achievement/work’; hence Bengali ‘কৃতী’ meaning ‘accomplished/meritorious’.

যে ব্যক্তি নিজের জ্ঞান, প্রতিভা বা কর্মদক্ষতার দ্বারা উল্লেখযোগ্য সাফল্য অর্জন করেছে এবং সমাজে সম্মান/খ্যাতি লাভ করেছে তাকে ‘কৃতী’ বলা হয়
