‘খবর’ শব্দ (ফারসি/আরবি উৎস) থেকে বাংলা গঠনে ‘-ই’ প্রত্যয় যোগে ‘খবরি’—অর্থাৎ ‘খবর-আনে/খবর-দেয় এমন ব্যক্তি’
