ফারসি/আরবি-মূল ‘জের’ (নিম্ন, তলা; এবং কথ্য ব্যবহারে ‘চাপ/টানাপোড়েন’), বাংলা ব্যবহারে ‘জেরে’ (কারণে/ফলে) ও ‘জেরা’ (প্রশ্নোত্তর দ্বারা যাচাই) অর্থে বিস্তার লাভ করেছে
