ইস্ট্রোজেন হলো স্টেরয়েড শ্রেণির একটি/একাধিক হরমোনের সমষ্টিগত নাম, যা প্রধানত ডিম্বাশয় (এছাড়া প্লাসেন্টা, চর্বি টিস্যু ও অ্যাড্রিনাল গ্রন্থি) থেকে উৎপন্ন হয় এবং ডিম্বস্ফোটন, জরায়ুর আস্তরণ (এন্ডোমেট্রিয়াম) প্রস্তুতি, হাড়ের ঘনত্ব, ত্বক ও রক্তনালীর কার্যক্রমসহ নানা শারীরবৃত্তীয় প্রক্রিয়ায় প্রভাব ফেলে
