‘দৃশ্যমান’ শব্দটি সংস্কৃতমূল ‘দৃশ্য’ (দেখা যায় এমন) থেকে এবং ‘অঙ্গ’ সংস্কৃত ‘অঙ্গ’ (শরীরের অংশ) থেকে; যৌগিকভাবে অর্থ দাঁড়ায় ‘দেখা যায় এমন অঙ্গ’
‘দৃশ্যমান’ comes from a Sanskrit-rooted form related to ‘দৃশ্য’ (visible/that which can be seen), and ‘অঙ্গ’ from Sanskrit ‘অঙ্গ’ (limb/body part); together the compound means ‘a visible body part’

মানুষ বা প্রাণীর দেহের এমন অঙ্গ যা বাইরে থেকে স্পষ্টভাবে দেখা যায় এবং সাধারণত দেহের বাহ্যিক কাঠামোর অংশ হিসেবে গণ্য হয় (যেমন হাত, পা, কান, নাক ইত্যাদি)
