সংস্কৃত ‘व्यवहार (ব্যবহার)’ থেকে উদ্ভূত; অর্থ ছিল ‘আচার-আচরণ, লেনদেন/কারবার, প্রয়োগ’—সেখান থেকে বাংলায় ‘ব্যবহার/প্রয়োগ’ এবং ‘আচরণ’ অর্থে বিস্তার লাভ করেছে
Derived from Sanskrit ‘व्यवहार (vyavahāra)’, meaning ‘conduct, dealings/transactions, practice/application’; from there it developed in Bengali to mean ‘use/application’ and ‘behavior’

‘ব্যবহার’ বলতে সাধারণত কোনো জিনিস বা সুবিধাকে নির্দিষ্ট উদ্দেশ্যে কাজে লাগানো, প্রয়োগ করা, কিংবা কাউকে কীভাবে আচরণ করা হয় তা বোঝায়; পাশাপাশি ভাষায় এটি খরচ/ব্যয় এবং প্রচলিত রীতির অর্থেও ব্যবহৃত হয়
