‘বিবৃতি’ শব্দটি সংস্কৃত ‘বি’ (বিশেষভাবে) উপসর্গ ও ‘বৃত্তি/বৃত’ ধাতুগত ধারণা (উক্ত/বর্ণিত) থেকে গঠিত; বাংলা ব্যবহারে ‘আনুষ্ঠানিক বক্তব্য/ঘোষণা’ অর্থে প্রতিষ্ঠিত
The word ‘বিবৃতি’ is formed from the Sanskrit prefix ‘বি’ (distinctly/specially) with a root idea related to ‘বৃত্তি/বৃত’ (said/described); in Bengali it is established in the sense of an ‘official statement/declaration’

কোনো ব্যক্তি, প্রতিষ্ঠান বা কর্তৃপক্ষ কোনো ঘটনা, সিদ্ধান্ত, অবস্থান বা তথ্য সম্পর্কে জনসমক্ষে বা রেকর্ডের জন্য যে আনুষ্ঠানিক ঘোষণা/বক্তব্য (লিখিত বা মৌখিক) দেয়, তাকে বিবৃতি বলা হয়
