‘বাজার’ শব্দটি ফারসি ‘بازار’ থেকে বাংলায় এসেছে; দক্ষিণ এশিয়ায় এটি বাণিজ্যস্থল/হাট বোঝাতে বহুল ব্যবহৃত।
The word “বাজার” entered Bengali from Persian “bāzār (بازار)”; across South Asia it is widely used to denote a trading place/market.

বাজার হলো এমন একটি স্থান বা ব্যবস্থা যেখানে মানুষ নিত্যপ্রয়োজনীয় পণ্য, কৃষিপণ্য, মাছ-মাংস ইত্যাদি কেনাবেচা করে; এছাড়া অর্থনীতিতে ‘বাজার’ বলতে পণ্য বা সেবার চাহিদা-যোগানভিত্তিক লেনদেনের সামগ্রিক ক্ষেত্রকেও বোঝায় (যেমন: শেয়ার বাজার, শ্রমবাজার)।
A bazaar/market is a place or system where people buy and sell goods—especially daily necessities, farm produce, fish, meat, etc.; in economics, “market” also means the broader arena of transactions shaped by supply and demand (e.g., stock market, labor market).
