नाविकों के काम के गीतों में प्रयुक्त अनुकरणात्मक (लयात्मक) पुकार; अंग्रेज़ी साहित्य तथा मंच/फिल्मों में समुद्री डाकुओं के चित्रण से प्रसिद्ध हुई (विशेषतः 18वीं–19वीं सदी की सी शैन्टी परंपरा)।
Definition
“Yo-ho” is a chant-like interjection, common in sailors’ songs and stereotypical pirate talk, used to mark rhythm while working (e.g., hauling ropes) or to show high spirits.
“यो-हो” एक गीतात्मक/लयबद्ध उद्गार है, जो समुद्री गीतों (सी शैन्टी) और पारंपरिक ‘समुद्री डाकू’ बोली में मिलता है; इसे काम करते समय ताल बाँधने (जैसे रस्सी खींचते हुए) या उत्साह व साथियों की भावना जताने के लिए बोला जाता है।
