Origin & History
From over- + cast; the weather sense (“to cover with clouds”) and the sewing sense (“to sew over an edge”) both derive from the idea of casting/throwing over a covering.
over- + cast से बना; मौसम वाला अर्थ (बादलों से ढकना) और सिलाई वाला अर्थ (किनारे पर ऊपर से टांके लगाना) दोनों ‘ऊपर से ढक देने’ की मूल धारणा से निकले हैं।
Definition
Overcasts can mean (1) makes the sky become covered with clouds, or (2) sews over the edge of fabric with stitches to prevent fraying (overcast stitch).
