From Greek ōión ‘egg’ + -cyte ‘cell’; oocyte literally means ‘egg cell’.
यूनानी ōión ‘अंडा’ + -cyte ‘कोशिका’ से; oocyte का शाब्दिक अर्थ ‘अंड (अंडा) कोशिका’ है।
Definition
Oocytes are female germ cells in the ovaries that develop through meiosis and maturation; they are precursors to mature eggs (ova) and are central to reproduction and fertility.
ओओसाइट्स अंडाशयों में पाए जाने वाले स्त्री जनन (गर्म) कोशिकाएँ हैं, जो मीयोसिस और परिपक्वता की प्रक्रियाओं से गुजरकर विकसित होती हैं; ये परिपक्व अंडों (ओवा) की पूर्ववर्ती होती हैं और प्रजनन व प्रजनन-क्षमता में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाती हैं।
