मध्य अंग्रेज़ी measurement से, पुरानी फ़्रेंच mesurement तथा mesurer (मापना) से; मूलतः लैटिन mensura (माप/मापने की क्रिया) और metiri (मापना) से।
Definition
Measurements are the numbers and units used to describe how long, heavy, hot, fast, or large something is, or the act/results of measuring in science and daily life.
माप (measurements) वे संख्याएँ और इकाइयाँ हैं जिनसे किसी वस्तु की लंबाई, वजन, तापमान, गति या आकार आदि का परिमाण बताया जाता है; यह मापने की क्रिया और उसके परिणाम भी होते हैं।
