Definition
A manslaughterer is someone who unlawfully causes another person’s death, but the crime is treated as less culpable than murder because it lacks intent to kill or “malice aforethought,” or occurs under mitigating circumstances (e.g., heat of passion, recklessness, or criminal negligence, depending on the legal system).
