From Latin Iūpiter (also Iovis), the name of the chief Roman god, likely from an older form meaning “sky father” (Iou- “sky, god” + pater “father”); later used for the planet.
लैटिन Iūpiter (और Iovis) से, जो रोमन पौराणिक कथाओं के प्रमुख देवता का नाम है; इसका मूल अर्थ संभवतः “आकाश-पिता” (Iou- ‘आकाश/देव’ + pater ‘पिता’) रहा होगा; बाद में यही नाम ग्रह के लिए भी प्रयोग होने लगा।

Jupiter is a gas giant planet known for its enormous size, strong magnetic field, Great Red Spot (a giant storm), and many moons (including Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto); the name also refers to the chief god in Roman mythology.
बृहस्पति सौरमंडल का सबसे बड़ा गैसीय विशाल ग्रह है, जो सूर्य से पाँचवाँ है; यह अपने विशाल आकार, शक्तिशाली चुम्बकीय क्षेत्र, ग्रेट रेड स्पॉट (एक विशाल तूफ़ान) और अनेक चंद्रमाओं (जैसे आयो, यूरोपा, गैनिमीड और कैलिस्टो) के लिए प्रसिद्ध है; यह नाम रोमन पौराणिक कथाओं के प्रमुख देवता के लिए भी प्रयुक्त होता है।
