Origin & History
From Middle English inclosure/enclosure, from Old French enclos/clos (past participle of enclore) and ultimately from Latin includere/includere “to shut in, enclose.” Variant spelling: inclosure.
मध्य अंग्रेज़ी inclosure/enclosure से; पुरानी फ़्रेंच enclos/clos (enclore का भूतकालिक कृदंत) के माध्यम से; अंततः लैटिन includere “अंदर बंद करना/घेरना” से। ‘inclosure’ एक वैकल्पिक वर्तनी (variant spelling) है।
Definition
Inclosures are fenced or bounded areas of land or spaces set apart from their surroundings; the term is also used historically for land enclosed during the Enclosure movement, and in documents for items/sections enclosed with a letter.
