From gun + flint; 'gun' (Middle English) + 'flint' (Old English flint), used for the flint fitted to flintlock mechanisms (common from the 17th century).
'गन' + 'फ्लिंट' से बना शब्द; 'गन' (मध्य अंग्रेज़ी) और 'फ्लिंट' (पुरानी अंग्रेज़ी flint) का संयोजन, जो फ्लिंटलॉक तंत्र में लगाए जाने वाले चकमक के लिए प्रयुक्त हुआ (विशेषकर 17वीं शताब्दी से)।
Definition
A small, hard piece of flint fixed in the cock of a flintlock gun; when the trigger is pulled it strikes the frizzen (steel) to make sparks that ignite the priming powder.
