Origin & History
From Middle English faierie/faierie (“realm of fairies; enchantment”), from Old French faerie (“enchantment; fairyland”), from fae (“fairy”), ultimately from Latin fata (“the Fates”). Modern “faeries” is a variant plural spelling of “fairies.”
