Definition
Doublets are two words in the same language that come from the same etymological source but entered the language differently, so they look or mean slightly different (e.g., “chief” and “chef”). The term can also mean a matching pair of items, and historically it refers to a fitted jacket.
डबलट्स ऐसे दो शब्द होते हैं जो एक ही मूल/व्युत्पत्ति से आए हों लेकिन भाषा में अलग-अलग रास्तों से आए हों, इसलिए उनके रूप या अर्थ में थोड़ा अंतर हो जाता है (जैसे “chief” और “chef”). यह शब्द किसी मिलते-जुलते जोड़े के लिए भी प्रयोग होता है, और ऐतिहासिक रूप से यह पुरुषों द्वारा पहनी जाने वाली चुस्त जैकेट/कुर्तीनुमा परिधान को भी दर्शाता है।
