यूनानी ‘खोंद्रोस’ (अर्थ: ‘दाना/कण’) से बने वैज्ञानिक शब्द ‘चोंड्राइट’ (चोंड्रूल्स वाले उल्कापिंड) का बहुवचन ‘चोंड्राइट्स’।
Definition
Chondrites are a class of stony meteorites characterized by chondrules (small, round silicate grains) and are considered among the most primitive materials in the Solar System, often preserving early solar nebula composition.
चोंड्राइट्स पत्थरीले उल्कापिंडों का एक वर्ग है जिनमें चोंड्रूल्स (छोटे, गोल सिलिकेट कण) पाए जाते हैं; इन्हें सौरमंडल की सबसे आदिम पदार्थ-सामग्रियों में माना जाता है और ये प्रारम्भिक सौर-निहारिका की संरचना को काफी हद तक सुरक्षित रखते हैं।
