From bobsled (also bobsleigh), likely from bob ‘to move up and down’ (referring to the early sled’s motion) + sled; popularized in winter sport contexts in the late 19th–early 20th century.
‘बॉब’ (ऊपर‑नीचे उछलना/हिलना) + ‘स्लेड’ से बना ‘बॉबस्लेड/बॉबस्ले’; शुरुआती स्लेज की उछलती गति के संदर्भ में, और उन्नीसवीं सदी के अंत–बीसवीं सदी की शुरुआत में शीतकालीन खेलों के साथ प्रचलित हुआ।

Bobsleds are streamlined sleds (usually for 2 or 4 people) that slide down an icy, banked track at high speed; the word can also refer to the sport of such racing, and historically to short paired sleds connected together.
