From New Latin Annelida, from French annélides, based on Latin anellus (“little ring”), diminutive of annulus (“ring”), referring to the ringed/segmented body.

Annelida is a major animal phylum characterized by a long body divided into repeated ring-like segments (metameres); members often have a true coelom and a closed circulatory system, and they live in soil, freshwater, or marine habitats.
ऐनेलिडा (Annelida) जन्तुओं का एक प्रमुख संघ है, जिसकी विशेषता लंबा शरीर है जो बार-बार दोहराए गए छल्लेनुमा खंडों (सेगमेंट/मेटामेयर) में विभाजित होता है; इनके भीतर सामान्यतः वास्तविक सीलोम (coelom) और बंद रक्तसंचार तंत्र होता है, तथा ये मिट्टी, मीठे पानी या समुद्री आवासों में पाए जाते हैं।
