यह आधुनिक तकनीकी संयुक्त शब्द advanced (“अधिक विकसित/उन्नत”) + ceramic (ग्रीक keramos “कुम्हार की मिट्टी/मृत्तिका” से) से बना है; 20वीं सदी के उत्तरार्ध में सामग्री-विज्ञान में अभियांत्रिक सिरेमिक के लिए इसका प्रयोग प्रचलित हुआ।
Definition
Advanced-ceramic refers to a category of engineered ceramics (often called technical/engineering ceramics) designed for superior properties such as high hardness, heat resistance, wear resistance, chemical inertness, and electrical/thermal performance, used in fields like aerospace, electronics, medical implants, and energy systems.
advanced-ceramic (उन्नत/तकनीकी सिरेमिक) ऐसे अभियांत्रिक सिरेमिक पदार्थों की श्रेणी को कहते हैं जिन्हें उच्च कठोरता, ऊष्मा-प्रतिरोध, घिसाव-प्रतिरोध, रासायनिक निष्क्रियता तथा विद्युत/तापीय गुणों जैसे श्रेष्ठ गुणों के लिए विकसित किया जाता है; इनका उपयोग एयरोस्पेस, इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स, चिकित्सा इम्प्लांट और ऊर्जा प्रणालियों में होता है।
