ইংরেজি ‘V’ (আকৃতি বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত অক্ষর) + ‘neckline’ (পোশাকের গলার খোলার চারপাশের কাট/ধার) থেকে গঠিত; ২০শ শতকে ফ্যাশনের পরিভাষা হিসেবে ব্যাপকভাবে প্রচলিত হয়।

A V-neckline is the edge/shape of a garment’s neck opening that forms a V, usually creating a longer-looking neck and exposing more of the upper chest than a round neckline.
ভি-নেকলাইন হলো পোশাকের গলার কাট/ধার যা সামনের দিকে (কখনও পেছনেও) ইংরেজি ‘V’ অক্ষরের মতো খাঁজ কেটে নামে; এতে ঘাড় লম্বা দেখাতে পারে এবং গোল গলার তুলনায় বুকের ওপরের অংশ বেশি দেখা যায়।
