Origin & History
From Middle English shrub(be), from Old English *scrybb (related to Low German scrubb, Dutch schrob), meaning “bush; scrub”.
মধ্য ইংরেজি shrub(be) থেকে; পুরনো ইংরেজি *scrybb থেকে উদ্ভূত (লো জার্মান scrubb ও ডাচ schrob-এর সঙ্গে সম্পর্কিত), অর্থ ছিল “ঝোপ/ঝাড়; নিচু ঝোপজাতীয় উদ্ভিদ (scrub)”。
Definition
Shrubs are woody plants that are usually shorter than trees and often have multiple stems growing from the ground; they are commonly used in gardens, hedges, and natural landscapes.
Shrubs হলো কাঠজাত উদ্ভিদ, যা সাধারণত গাছের চেয়ে খাটো এবং মাটি থেকে একাধিক কাণ্ড/ডাল বের হয়; এগুলো বাগান, হেজ (ঝোপ-দেয়াল), ও প্রাকৃতিক পরিবেশে সাধারণভাবে দেখা যায়।
