পাপাসি শব্দটি দেরি মধ্য ইংরেজি papacy থেকে; তা গির্জাসংক্রান্ত লাতিন papatus (‘পোপের পদ/পাপাসি’) থেকে এসেছে, যা papa (‘পোপ/পিতা’) থেকে উদ্ভূত; বহুবচনে -ies যুক্ত হয়ে papacies হয়েছে।
Definition
Papacies are the offices, reigns, or administrations of popes, or the institution/system of the papacy considered in the plural (e.g., different historical papal reigns).
