Definition
An aminobarbiturate is a barbiturate compound in which an amino group (–NH2 or related amino substituent) is present in the molecular structure; such compounds belong to the barbiturate class and have central nervous system depressant effects (e.g., sedative, hypnotic, anticonvulsant), historically used in medicine and now largely restricted due to safety risks and dependence.
