যে দেশ/রাষ্ট্র বিশ্বরাজনীতি, অর্থনীতি ও সামরিক ক্ষেত্রে এতটাই প্রভাবশালী যে আন্তর্জাতিক সিদ্ধান্ত, জোট, যুদ্ধ-শান্তি বা নীতিনির্ধারণে তার ভূমিকা নির্ণায়ক হয়ে ওঠে তাকে ‘মহাশক্তি’ বলা হয়
A country/state so dominant in global politics, economics, and military capacity that it plays a decisive role in international decisions, alliances, war and peace, or policymaking is called a “superpower/great power.”
