ধানকে সেদ্ধ বা ভাপ না দিয়ে (বা খুব কম প্রক্রিয়াজাত করে) চাপ/যান্ত্রিক মাড়াইয়ের মাধ্যমে যে কাঁচা ধরনের চাল পাওয়া যায় তাকে ‘চাপা চাল’ বলা হয়; গ্রামাঞ্চলে এটি ‘কাঁচা চাল’-এর এক ধরনের হিসেবে কথ্য ব্যবহৃত
‘চাপা চাল’ refers to rice obtained by pressing/pounding or mechanical husking of paddy with little or no parboiling/steaming; in colloquial rural usage it is considered a kind of ‘raw rice’
